WHO sets up a team of scientists test for covid and emerging pathogens
On October 13, AFP news agency reported that the World Health Organization (WHO) has launched a new team of scientists responsible for investigating emerging pathogens. and prevent new epidemics in the future as well as to find the source of COVID-19
This group of 26 scientists will provide a new global framework for studying the origins of emerging pathogens that can cause epidemics and pandemics, including the SARS-CoV-2 virus that causes Covid-19. And in addition to COVID-19, rates of new high-risk pathogens or re-infection of high-risk pathogens are also increasing, including MERS, avian influenza, Lassa fever, Marburg virus and Ebola
The World Health Organization announced earlier this year it would form a Scientific Advisory Group on the Origin of New Pathogens (SAGO), led by WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebrejes SARS-CoV-2. It said the emergence of new viruses with the potential to cause epidemics and pandemics is a fact of nature, and although SARS-CoV-2 is the latest in its class, it is not yet known. But the WHO director general, SARS-CoV-2, said it was still unknown. But it won't be the last virus. And setting up a team of scientists is essential in preventing future outbreaks.”
