Diablo 4 Server Slam Test Will Let You Play Early, And Blizz

Blizzard has held two beta periods for Diablo 4 gold for sale as we approach the sport's June 6 launch, however nowadays it announced another, which sounds intense. Dubbed Server Slam, the exam will run from May 12-14 on all platforms and aims to assist the development team in better getting ready for the massive horde of players certain to be waiting to experience on launch day. Progress out of this test won't transfer to the full game, but it's another chance to try the sport ahead of its launch because the Server Slam is going to be freely open to anyone who really wants to participate. Those who reach level 20 and defeat the Ashava world boss will get the Cry of Ashava mount trophy.

GameSpot had the opportunity to chat with director Joe Shely and associate director Joseph Piepiora about Server Slam and learned precisely how important this pre-launch period is for the sport.

"It's been the plan for all of us to do exactly what we can to ensure the launch is really as stable as you possibly can," Shely told us. "So the very first thing we did was the first access weekend, therefore we did outdoors beta. And Outdoor beta and the first access weekend both allowed us to obtain lots of feedback that people were able to incorporate into the sport. It also allowed us to check our servers, especially with plenty of people."

We saw a few of the front-facing changes already explained--Blizzard is giving the Barbarian some buffs in reaction to feedback, for instance--but changes to server infrastructure also occurred. Rather than hope the alterations it made are ideal for launch, Blizzard can test them out in the Server Slam and, hopefully, provide a smoother launch than we've seen from similarly huge games. As the name suggests, Blizzard wants the servers stressed as much as you possibly can to ensure that an enormous influx of activity won't throw a wrench in everyone's fun.

"We did learn a great deal from having players come and play the sport during [the beta] period," Piepiora added. "There are certain situations you just can't simulate internally. We learned a good deal and I think you saw things improve during the period of that weekend because we deployed hotfixes making changes to enhance the stability in our infrastructure."

This was evident should you play during the first access period for Diablo IV. After a night time of long queue times, things smoothed out considerably to the point of there hardly ever being any wait whatsoever.

Diablo III didn't exactly launch inside a stellar--or, oftentimes, playable--state if this arrived in 2012. That game originally launched just for PC, but despite Diablo IV's launch across two generations of Xbox and PlayStation consoles alongside PC (with cross-play and cross-progression, no less), Blizzard insists it's ready this time around.

"It feels great to be able to possess Diablo IV and get sent to all these different audiences at the same time," Piepiora said. "It adds complexity--the complexity we planned for by releasing Diablo III on a number of different platforms with time. We learned a great deal getting Diablo III on Switch, for instance."

As Piepiora alluded to, regardless of how much shoring up and preparation is performed, you can't really know for sure how a web-based game launch will go until players get their hands on the sport. That'll come just one month following the Server Slam when diablo 4 buy gold releases on June 6 for PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC.
